Emma

Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson, born in Paris France of British parents Jacqueline Luesby Watson and Chris Watson both of whom were lawyers. She was moved to Oxfordshire in the year she turned five where she attended the Dragon School. Emma was only six when she made the decision to be an actor. She studied for a number of years in Stagecoach Theatre Arts, a part time theatre school in Oxford where she was taught acting as well as singing. When she was 10 years old, Emma took part in many Stagecoach plays and productions. In 1999 casting began to cast Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the movie adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was discovered by Emma's Oxford theatre teacher. David Heyman, the producer of Harry Potter Harry Potter's Sorcerer's Stone and Ron Weasley told Emma after 8 auditions, that she had been picked for these roles. Emma was chosen to play alongside Daniel Radcliffe Rupert Grint and Rupert Grint. Emma's first screen appearance was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone's debut in the year 2001. It was the year's top earning film, smashing records at the opening as well as the first weekend. Critics praised the film and the performances of the three young stars. The highly distributed British paper The Daily Telegraph called her performances admirable. Emma received five nominations for her outstanding performance. Later, she won the Young Artist Award in Leading Young Actress in the Film.
